Everything okay in the lab?

No. [ everything is not okay, but - ] It is nothing major. I had to change several variables.

I suppose it's dumb to ask if there's anything I can do to help?

Yes. It is.

Would it be better if I brought you food? Then you could stay until all your models are finished.

[ Not bad enough to stop him from wanting to actually get the chance to see her at some point this evening. He knows what "nine pm" means. She won't be home before midnight, in all actuality, and he's tired of being alone. ]

It shouldn't be impossible, though. Plus I've got a handicap placard, I'll be fine.

So the neighbor kids from downstairs have run over my leg. I won't make it to the office after all.

[ she's read the message three times and still all she can think of to write is ]

Well, I've been walking with my crutches today and one of them must have stolen it from the apartment and now it's been run over.

I'm fine, just annoyed. I don't have any spares with me, the shipment hasn't arrived.
